Project Runway

An app designed for the most discerning fashion critic

Project Runway is a mobile application that gives fans direct access to current episodes, behind-the-scenes clips, interviews with contestants, and all of Tim Gunn’s scathing critiques. Followers stay connected between each episode and play a part in selecting the winning designer.

What they needed.

A+E Television wanted to widen exposure to the hit series Project Runway by tapping into the mobile audience. To entice fans to sign up, they proposed adding bonus content and allowing followers to vote for their favorite designer each week. A+E Television sought an app design team who could thoroughly understand their unique requirements to create a layout as fashionable as the show itself.

What we did.

Talos clearly understood the need for a chic app design, which needed to mimic the look and feel of the TV show and website. The team presented sketches showing how the appearance tied into the current style but also how elements were added to optimize the mobile experience.

Designing the interactive portion of the application required more creativity. The success of the community depended on a fantastic user experience. We made voting for contestants effortless and placed the current leader in a prominent location. To encourage the fans to visit often, we added a contest to entice users to retweet postings and featured that weekly winner.
